A camera installed on a balcony captures the live sky, converting it into generative sound in real time. The trajectories of birds crossing the frame are translated into piano tones, forming unpredictable melodies. The time spent watching the sky—waiting for the next sound—becomes part of the work.

Bodiless Light is a performance and installation work that converts the migration of DNA into sound in real time through gel electrophoresis. The movement of DNA is not reduced to biological data but reconstituted as an acoustic event. The work centers on the DNA of a persimmon tree that continues to bear fruit in an empty house—the house where the artist’s late grandmother once lived. The distinct movement of the persimmon’s DNA becomes a metaphor for an “absence of absence” that transcends death. Fragments, a book composed of diary entries written between 2020 and 2025 in which the artist reflects on her grandmother, is presented as part of the work.

We Were Walking on the Beach is a performative installation that borrows the structure of 49-jae, a Buddhist funeral rite in Mahayana tradition. The work departs from sensing the inherent vitality of nonhuman agents—molecules and spirits. Each night, the artist burns incense on a piece of cloth. During the time it takes for the incense to turn completely to ash, she confronts and connects with the deaths encountered throughout her life. When the flame goes out, she embroiders along the fragments of ash that have fallen in their own unique forms onto the cloth, using black thread. This practice is repeated every day for forty-nine days.

We Were Walking on the Beach는 대승불교의 장례 의식인 49재의 구조를 차용한 수행적 설치 작업이다.

Wind Blows From translates the wind blowing in Anseong, South Korea into the ripples of water held in a bowl, here and now, in real time. The work began with a simple wish—to simultaneously sense the wind brushing against a distant mother’s cheek. The image of a woman, her back turned, offering a bowl of clear water in prayer, serves as the aesthetic origin of the work. During the three days of the exhibition, the artist walked to the Herzquelle spring each morning to draw water and place it in the work.

Anseong, Weimar, Yeonggwang—rivers from three cities converge into a single drop of water. Anseong and Weimar are cities where the artist lives, and Yeonggwang is where the artist’s late grandmother once resided. The microscopic movements of microorganisms within the droplet are tracked through a microscope and converted into sound in real time. Performed according to experimental notation, this music becomes a metaphor for a state of boundless connection—like water, which knows no separation.

A cable connecting an analog camcorder and a CRT TV is severed and placed on snow in a dish. As the snow melts, conductivity increases, and the moment current begins to flow between the separated ends, the two devices are connected. The footage captured by the camcorder plays back in real time, and the image on the monitor is continuously transformed according to the material change of the snow and the flow of the signal. The relationship between the autonomous movement of snow molecules and the analog signal unfolds as a single visual event.
